Dear Pat and Gerry,
Congratulations on your 50th wedding anniversary! Seems like only a few years ago, Gerry, Hammy and I were at the University of Missouri as college students!
We all ended up in Chicago in the early sixties and lived in Rogers Park where we spent a lot of time at the beach -- remember Tony Lord, Mino, Fred & Linda!! It was always party time!
I remember the four of us playing bridge in your little apartment in Rogers Park right next to the train tracks...and I mean right next to....and we would have to stop talking when the train went by! We spent a lot of time together, including a weekend in South Haven Michigan.
We used to come to South Bend (if you weren't buried in snow) for the weekend and drink Harvey Wallbangers or Manhattans until the wee hours -- play cards -- and just have a wonderful time!
And one of the dearest things was when Gerry drove from South Bend to Evanston in December to attend the memorial service for my mom over 40 years ago. It still brings me to tears that you showed up that cold, dreary day! That's what friends do.
Thanks for always welcoming me whenever I travel near Sacramento, with or without a dog or two or a traveling companion you've never met. I will always miss you living nearby.
I love you both and truly treasure our long abiding friendship. Love, Suzi
